The basics of Pixlr Desktop

When you launch the product, a news feed appears, providing a way to open an image.Once you have loaded an image, you can check out the UI and get started. Here’s a run-down of the tools at your disposal.

  • Along the top is the menu bar with all sorts of tools and options.
  • Along the left, you’ll see the tool tiles for adjusting and enhancing your image.
  • Along the bottom are zoom, metadata (EXIF), undo or redo, share by email, share to Facebook, share to Twitter, and Sign In. 

 

 

 

 

Pro members will see the influence panel, which houses the color selection, brush selection, marquee, and object selection tools for creating influence masks.

 

What file formats do you support? 
You can load just about any image format, such as JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD, and Mac Pict. If layered files are brought in, they are opened as flattened images. When it comes to saving your image, you have these options: BMP, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF.

What is the maximum image size?

The Mac and Mac App versions of Pixlr have no maximum image size. The Win version currently does have a maximum image size of 8000 x 8000.
